Perth Airport Expansion Project
Perth Airport has announced a one billion dollar vision for the expansion and redevelopment of the airport, responding to unprecedented record growth in passenger traffic. Under the vision, the domestic and international RPT terminals would be relocated around the existing International Terminal Precinct.
Airbiz was appointed by Westralia Airports Corporation, the operator of Perth Airport, to undertake the Perth Airport Expansion Project to lead a specialist team of consultants to determine the airfield, terminal and landside planning requirements and to prepare conceptual designs for the integrated Terminal Precinct.
The Airbiz consortium for the project included Woodhead Architects, Maunsell AECOM and Turner and Townsend. Tasks undertaken covered market segment and demand analysis, definition and evaluation of processing options, sizing and staging of the terminal precinct for a 20 Year Master Plan.
Other aspects of the Project included landside and urban planning incorporating road access and a ground transport interchange, and recommendations for sustainability aspects. The preferred Precinct Plan meets the objectives of providing a flexible airside and terminal planning solution and a landside development that will provide an attractive and environmentally sustainable solution supporting simple way finding and high levels of service for all users of Perth Airport.
